Chloe & Jake at Mon Bijou Melbourne
By Sharon Cook
Chloe & Jake get hitched at Mon Bijou with an intimate gathering of 50 of their closest crew and our darling Jerome was there to capture their day perfectly.
Chloe and Jake met through their mutual friend Rianne, whom Chloe went to University with and Jake was already friends with.
They became closer and went on a few dates, and the rest was history…
A word from Chloe “We loved everything about our wedding day, we had always wanted an intimate wedding with just our closest loved ones and we were able to keep the guest count to 50.
We had our ceremony at Mon Bijou Penthouse which overlooked Melbourne CBD with floor to ceiling windows and mirrored ceilings.
Everyone was given a passion fruit and white chocolate martini on arrival to the ceremony which was a hit.
Our celebrant Sally Hughes was very professional, yet laid back and made the whole process seamless and stress free.
Along with having a great photographer Jerome Cole and videographer, Alper, who captured all the special moments in a relaxed manner.
We chose our suppliers based on recommendation as well as following vendors on social media. A lot of time was spent on Instagram ha-ha!”
Jake wore a midnight blue tuxedo with black lapels and a black bow tie. Chloe + Jake wanted something modern yet timeless.
“I purchased my Hayley Paige “Dori” gown second hand from Still White, which helped save a lot of money throughout the whole process. I loved that the dress has a lilac hue to the tulle and was not the typical white/ivory. I purchased my shoes from Forever Soles, based near Byron Bay. The shoes were extremely comfortable with delicate straps which wrapped up my ankle.” Chloe
So many times, due to nerves and excitement, you forget to eat and that first cocktail has you on your ear.
The First Look
The Best Bit “We had a “first look” prior to our ceremony at the Fitzroy gardens. Jake waited with our Chocolate Labrador, Benjamin Franklin, whilst I walked down a long path to meet them. We then had all of our couple photos done prior to the ceremony. We loved this as we were not taken away from all our guests for couple shots between ceremony and reception which more time to party with everyone!
What an emotional ceremony this was indeed, with not a dry eye in the house and with the gorgeous Sally Hughes behind the wheel we know it would have had the feels, the giggles and that extra dash of class.
People always ask “if we have the ‘first look’ will will lose that emotion of seeing each other at opposites sides of the aisle but this is proof that you can half those emotions at both the ‘first look’ and ‘walking down the aisle’
“We used beautiful realistic silk peonies for our wedding to reduce any stress on the day re: delivery. We were able to pick up the flowers weeks in advance.”
Pre Ceremony Drinks are our everything and these cocktails make that little treat even better.
Sally Hughes getting all the behind the scenes into practice mode, checking everything off the pre-ceremony list such as: you stand here, you go there and hold the rings just so. Sally leaves no stone unturned.
Show time kiddies.
You can not hide the excitement of a child, is there anything sweeter?
The emotions run high as Jake awaits his beautiful wife to be, but first the little ones make thier entrance.
If there is an eye leak or even an eye welling Jerome with catch it, one of the highlight of any wedding album.
Chloe looking at Sally for that last assurance as Dad hugs his almost brand spanking new son-in law.
Looking in awe!!!
Another emotional time of Jake and Chloe’s ceremony
Ring Bearer – exactly as practiced with Sally and look how proud he is 😉
These little angels helping any way they can, given very jobs for the day.
“We needed to find a venue which would cater for a small amount of guests, without feeling empty inside. Mon Bijou was the perfect size, and provided a contemporary and well laid out space for both our Ceremony and reception. We loved that the venue was already well equipped with beautiful furniture and candles, so we didn’t have to organize a venue stylist.”
“We had a cocktail style venue, but I made sure that guests would not want a midnight maccas run after! There was plenty of delicious canapés and antipasto platters around.
For our cake we didn’t want a traditional white wedding cake. We found a fabulous local cake maker Bride and Stork who helped us design our dream cake. It was a coconut cake, with lemon Swiss meringue buttercream and passion fruit curd between the layers. The cake was a modern concrete look, with a water colour pink design over it and decorated finished with gold leaf and fresh flowers.
For dessert we had Bianco Latte Gelato come with a little cart and served free flowing gelato to all the guests.” Chloe + Jake
Those nails though – can’t get enough.
Chloe + Jake used a fabulous DJ Peter through Mercury DJ Hire. He was great at reading the guests and ensuring everyone was dancing and having a great time.
Chloe + Jake’s best advice.
“Weddings are meant to be fun! Don’t get caught up in the small things. Jake and I made sure we took in every minute of the day. We also agreed from the start of wedding planning that we would do everything how we wanted – for example having only 50 guests, so we had no regrets later on.”
A Recovery Day lunch was had in the Victoria Gardens the following day. Jakes brother owns a pizza shop, Small Print Pizza, across the road, so it was pizza in the park.
Chloe’s parents as a wedding gift organized a surprise honeymoon. They found out on the day of their wedding where they were going and left two days later.
That last word by Jake + Chloe
“Our honeymoon was topped off by finding out we are expecting a baby girl due August 1st. We found out on our last day of being in the Maldives.”
Oh Chloe + Jake, thank you so much for sharing your special day with us and we suspect you have more than likely given birth to your little one by now so a BIG congratulations from us to you three.
